Opera web browser expands cryptocurrency purchasing services across the European Union

Opera, the Norwegian company behind the cryptocurrency compatible web browser, It has expanded its cryptocurrency purchasing services for Android users to entire countries of the European Union and also to four countries including Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and Switzerland.


Opera made the press announcement posted on its official Monday, March 30. The other update includes support for Web 3.0 websites with .crypto domain names, as well as .eth and .xyz (ENS: Ethereum Name System) using IPFS.

Opera, founded in 1995, claims to be the first browser to introduce Web 3.0 capabilities and a crypto wallet built into its mobile and computer browsers.

The company has enabled various features to help users use cryptocurrencies and other blockchain-related applications in the browser without the need to download extensions.

In December 2018, the company released its first blockchain browser, Opera for Android, which supports a built-in crypto wallet and a DApp browser.

Then the company introduced a cryptocurrency wallet built into your desktop browser as well as your iOS browser called Opera Touch. Android users can buy Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) using Visa or Master Card, while their iOS counterparts use Apple Pay.

As reported by Crypto Economy, earlier this month, Opera introduced cryptocurrency purchases in the US. Made possible by a partnership with cryptocurrency-focused payment processor Wyre based in the US. USA

At that time, Opera enabled its services for Scandinavian users. Opera's Android functionality has now been expanded to all European Union (EU) countries, as well as Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and Switzerland.

The company claims that you can receive cryptocurrencies in your accounts in less than 30 seconds when using its services.

Opera also partnered with Unstoppable Domains, a blockchain naming system built on Ethereum, that allows users to obtain a .crypto domain name. Instead of long addresses, owning a .crypto domain name shortens wallet addresses, making it easy to send and receive cryptocurrencies.
