Binance, who recently hired a former JP Morgan to act as business director in Latin America, announced in a statement sent to the press another addition to his executive team.
The addition now comes from Matt Shroder, who was Uber's product manager and now becomes Binance's vice president of global expansion operations.
Betting on expansion
Shroder will be in charge of leading the international operations team and expanding the scope of Binance's service, according to the statement. Apparently, he will be in charge of carrying out expansions like the one Binance recently made in India, after acquiring a famous exchange in the country.
The statement also highlights Shroder's role as head of product operations at Uber, leading global driver, safety and market programs. In addition, Shroder has followed Uber almost since its inception, while the company was still a startup in 2013.
Changpeng Zhao, CEO of Binance, spoke about the recent hiring:
“Matt faced many similar challenges at Uber, a company that led a completely new sector, the shared economy, with what we believe we look like today. We are delighted that Matt has joined our team and we are confident in his ability to help shape our business, as he did in Uber, including the launch and expansion of many new markets. ”
Shroder hopes to foster the reach of cryptocurrencies, especially in emerging markets that have strong cases of uses and benefits of cryptocurrencies. Although he did not mention it, it would not be absurd to say that Brazil fits the lines narrated by him. The new Binance member stated:
“There are more than one billion people without a bank account or who cannot participate in the global financial market. By giving people access to these tools and opportunities, we can raise the quality of life for generations to come. I look forward to working with the great Binance team as we focus on providing the best opportunities on a global scale. ”
The new Binance executive will also work to improve the company's existing products and services, in order to continue gaining ground in the regions where the exchange has already been established. Binance co-founder Yi also talked about hiring:
“Matt's passion for our shared mission, as well as his experience in the successful leadership of product strategies and operations at the multinational level, will ensure that we continue to improve and innovate. He is able to anticipate local challenges and understand how to better serve people with their own characteristics throughout the world. "
